Helping Victims of Luster Dr. Fire

Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a house fire at 5195 Luster Drive at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to CSFD, a family of four lives in the home. The father and his three-year-old son were at home and were able to evacuate the home safely. An off-duty firefighter lives in the area and stayed with them until help arrived.

All floors of the 3-story home were engulfed in flames.

The house has been deemed unlivable. There is also heat and smoke damage to the house next door, including a burned electrical box.

The family in the second home is back inside that house.

Southwest of Powers/Dublin, Oakwood Blvd, and Luster Dr. was shut down as fire crews work to put out the flames.

Fire crews are unable to make a safe entry to the home and fought the fire from outside.

There was a dead fire hydrant in the area as well, but the fire department said it did not hamper efforts as their trucks are full of water reserves.

Colorado Springs Utilities is checking the hydrant to see why there is no water.
