Prayers Answered
Thousands gathered Thursday afternoon, for the 16th annual Pre-Thanksgiving Feast at the City Auditorium in Colorado Springs. It was sponsored by the Springs Rescue Mission. In between the mouthfuls of turkey and all the trimmings, there was a magic moment happening onstage.
The Springs Rescue Mission had two vehicles on the stage. Each year, the mission screens needy families and gives out vehicles that from the Mission’s auto donation program. Tyisha Alston and her four children won one of the vehicles. Angeligue Overman and her two children are also enjoying their new vehicle.
Each told me they feel blessed and their prayers were answered. Tyisha and Angelique believe this means they can say yes to jobs easier because each now have a car to get to work.
Springs Rescue Mission C.E.O. Joe Vazquez told me that every time he and his staff do this car giveaway, it’s pretty hard not to get emotional about changing people’s lives.
