COS Musician Dies From Fight Injuries

A guitar player who was knocked out by one of his own band mates after a scuffle at the Union Station Lounge has died of his injuries.

Terry Span, founder of the band Aleister Wild, was knocked out by his bass player, Michael Sorden, 39. The fight happened following a show on October 8th.

Witnesses say Span was trying to break up a fight between Sorden and the band?s singer when Sorden suddenly struck, cracking Span’s skull with a single devastating blow.

Sorden, who was taken into custody that night on assault charges, remains in the El Paso County C.J.C.

The District Attorney?s Office is reviewing the case in light of this development to determine amended charges.

Span, who was 48, was a popular figure in the local music scene. He was an outspoken advocate for local veterans and would frequently book shows for troops both here and overseas.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has completed an autopsy and ruled the manner of death a homicide due to a closed head injury.

Span?s death marks the 25th homicide this year in Colorado Springs.
