Colo. School Shooter Found Innocent

Jurors have found Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood not guilty in the 2010 shooting two of eighth graders outside Deer Creek Middle School in Jefferson County.

Eastwood has been found not guilty by reason of insanity on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Jurors began their deliberations in the case of Eastwood on Tuesday after closing arguments in Golden.

He was found guilty on one count — possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Eastwood pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to 15 charges, including attempted first-degree murder, in the shooting at Deer Creek Middle School last year. The school is just miles from Columbine High School, the site of one of the nation’s deadliest school shootings.

Eastwood’s lawyer had shown jurors portions of a rambling journal in which Eastwood referred to mutants or transformers taking over his body, but prosecutors said Eastwood knew the difference between right and wrong.
