Maggots On The Menu

One-by-one they stepped up to the plate, but what they ordered wasn?t your typical State Fair food.

?One maggot melt sandwich,? said Nathan Fadely.

No, he wasn?t misunderstood.

?My name is Nate Fadely and this is the maggot melt sandwich. It tastes kind of like a grilled cheese sandwich, just a little crunchier,” said Fadely.

If you think Fadely is crazy, then check out what the next guy had as his snack.

Corporal Brian Hicks didn?t need his maggots covered in cheese and bread.

?Tastes like sunflower seeds,? said Hicks.

The stand is called Jungle George.

Another state fair called me and said, ?Hey what can you do wacky this year,? And I said I don?t know, then they said, What about a strange meat,?? said stand owner George Sandefur.

He?s tired everything on his menu, which includes, scorpions, crickets, ants, alligator and the popular maggot melt sandwich.

A big portion of the food is prepared by Rodney Wright.

?I have not heard one bad complaint yet,? said Wright.

His customers got plenty of maggots, but now there is something they won?t be getting.

?I’m not getting any kisses tonight,? said Hicks.

The Jungle George stand is right in front of the concert venue.
