Bomb Squad Called For Suspicious Device

The bomb squad was called out to the intersection of Union and Lexington Boulevards Saturday morning on report of a suspicious item.

Colorado Springs police said the unit found an improvised plastic explosive with Pyrodex powder. Officials said a K-9 unit was called in to sweep the area.

Part of southbound Union was closed for a short time while police made sure the area was safe.

No one was hurt.
