Pueblo Losing Bus Shelters In Next 2 Months

The city of Pueblo said Lamar advertising is pulling more than 60 bus shelters from across town.

The company told the city they won’t be involved in an upcoming bidding process for transit passenger shelters with advertising.

?Lamar Transit Advertising has enjoyed the working relationship with Pueblo Transit for the past sixteen years; however, due to economic challenges, we will terminate our involvement at the end of the current contract, May 31, 2011,? said Lamar Advertising Vice President and General Manager Mr. Hal Ward.

Lamar will begin pulling shelters within the next two months.

?We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our transit riders; we?ll make this process as painless as possible, striving to meet the needs of our riders during this transition period. We?ll make every effort to place benches on ADA accessible areas during this waiting period until we have concluded negotiations with new advertising companies,? said Brenda Broyles, Director of Transit.

There are 61 shelters across the city, according to Lamar.
