4.1 Magnitude Quake Hits In New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – A 4.1 magnitude earthquake has rattled an area of northeastern New Mexico near the Colorado border.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the temblor hit at 1:41 a.m. Monday and was centered in a sparsely populated area about 170 miles northeast of Albuquerque.

USGS geophysicist Amy Vaughan says the quake was felt in the border area of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado but its intensity wasn’t strong enough to cause any damage of significance.
