Community Reacts To Obama??S War Plans

COLORADO SPRINGS- Tari Cofield knows what it means to worry someone you love might never come home. Her husband and two of her sons are in the Military, and tells NewsChannel13 she thinks the President is making the right move sending troops to fight in Afghanistan.
“I was very skeptical because of his lack of military background that he would be able to make the tough decisions and I am so proud that he’s listened to his advisors,” says Cofield.
Cofield reasons that if more soldiers are in the Afghanistan the safer they will be, but not everyone feels as she does. The group Coloradans for Peace rallied in Acacia Park before the President’s speech in protest of the increase in troops.
White House Officials say the President will also be proposing a 3-year timetable for troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. That’s good news for Cofield; even though she supports the troop increase she would like to see her family home soon.
“We’d all want it done yesterday but 3 years is better than the projected 10 years they were talking about.”
Fort Carson Officials say they still don’t know how the new plans will affect the Mountain Post, but they don’t expect to see any new deployment plans for a few weeks,
