Two Women Dead After Taxi Crashes On Way To Airport
DENVER – Two women are dead after being ejected from the taxi they were riding during a suspected hit-and-run crash en route to Denver International Airport.
The accident involving a Freedom Cab minivan happened at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on northbound Pena Boulevard, a heavily-traveled road between Interstate 70 and DIA.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson told KUSA-TV that one woman died at the scene while the other died at a hospital. Jackson says the two were from out of town and were headed back to DIA when the crash occurred.
The taxi driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Northbound lanes of Pena were closed at I-70 for the accident investigation and cleanup, and were not expected to reopen until at least 1:30 p.m.
