Latest Explosives Arrest
PUEBLO – A man who was arrested after Pueblo police found ingredients for explosives in his home first came under investigation over questions raised by an audit. James Burton Crippin was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for possession of explosives after an 18-month investigation.
District Attorney Bill Thiebaut says the investigation began after an audit of a Colorado State University-Pueblo center where Crippin worked raised questions about expenditures. No charges related to the audit have been filed.
The school says Crippin became lab director of its Western Forensic Law Enforcement Training Center in 2003 and left last year to pursue other opportunities. Crippin is free on $35,000 bail. He has declined to comment.
