Trouble Getting World Series Tickets
DENVER – If you’re one of the thousands of people logging on to buy tickets to the upcoming World Series games at Coors Field, you’ve probably been having some trouble. NEWSCHANNEL 13 reporter Stephanie Wurtz started attempting to purchase tickets right at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, when the site wassupposed to become available. However, despite being logged on to several computers in the newsroom, she had no success whatsoever. Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister also began trying to get tickets at 10:00, again, without any luck.
The problem? No one seems to be able to get past the part where you “click here to buy tickets.” When you click on the link, a page opens that is either totally blank or shows a message asking you to wait while the the site loads. A press conference held at Coors Field just after noon on Monday revealed the online ticket-buying system has temporarily been suspended until the server can be fixed. There were 8 1/2 million hits within the first hour, causing the system to crash.
The real question… with how many people are logging on to get tickets, divided by how many tickets are available, how many Rockies fans will be attending their own team’s World Series game?
