Man traveling from Colo. to Fla. caught with 100 lbs of pot

A man traveling in a motor home from Colorado to Miami, Fla. was caught with 100 pounds of marijuana on August 24.

A Tennessee trooper made a traffic stop on the motor home on Interstate 24 in Marion County. While asking the driver, 40-year-old Lester Beltran, a few questions, the trooper reportedly saw several indicators of criminal activity. The trooper then requested backup.

Permission was given by Beltran to check inside the motor home. A K9 was used and it led troopers to several empty bags and moving boxes in the vehicle’s bedroom area.

When a trooper asked Beltran to open the box, he admitted that there was marijuana in it.

Troopers found an additional six cardboard boxes with 83 vacuum sealed bags of high-grade marijuana with a total weight of 100 pounds.

Officials confirmed that Beltran did get the marijuana from Colorado. The motor home was registered to Beltran’s wife’s company out of Montana.

Beltran was arrested and transported to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
