Slippery drive causes busy night for tow operators

Wednesday’s weather across southern Colorado was a recipe for disaster on the roads.

But Sean Rosen, a tow operator with Auto Towing, Inc. in Colorado Springs, told KRDO NewsChannel 13 the steady snow probably helped driving conditions.

“Instead of getting a light layer of snow turning into ice, making it 10 times worse, it’s been real easy for us to get around,” Rosen said.

Still, Rosen worked well over 12 hours Wednesday towing cars across the region.

“We stay out until we get everybody home,” Rosen said. “We always have enough drivers to get everyone home safely.”

Rosen’s advice to drivers is to never panic.

“You panic, hit the brakes, you end up in a bad situation,” he said.

He also reminds drivers to never feel a false sense of security in a four-wheel drive vehicle.

“The majority of the ones that we tow in ditches are the individuals who think four-wheel drive means four-wheel stop.”
