Attempted murder arrest in Springs

A Colorado Springs man is arrested for attempted murder.

On Sunday, police were called to a home in the 5300 block of Solar Ridge Drive on a 911 call. That’s near Barnes and Iron Horse.

There was a report that a man had placed a handgun to a female’s head.

When officers arrived, they stopped a man in a car trying to leave.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Officers discovered a loaded handgun inside of the male’s vehicle.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was transported to Memorial Hospital Central, where she was treated for cuts and bruises, and injuries related to strangulation.

Detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit responded to continue the investigation.

25-year-old James Lee was taken into custody and was later booked into the Criminal Justice Center for Criminal Attempt- Second Degree Murder and Felony Menacing.
