Dad Worries About Daughter’s Safety

A 6-year-old said a stranger was hugging her and making her feel uncomfortable at school. Now, her dad is angry his daughter?s concerns weren?t taken very seriously.

It happened at Prairie Winds Elementary in Pueblo West. The father, who only wants to go by John, said his daughter told him an adult she didn?t know was calling her girlfriend then started giving her hugs.

The young girl asked him to stop, but he never did.

Her parents went to the school principal and a D-70 administrator. It turns out the suspect in all this does have connections to the school. He has two children there, but John said neither of them know his daughter.

The man accused of hugging the girl was investigated by the Pueblo County Sheriff?s Office then allowed back in the school.

John said he was told the man would have an escort at all times, but that never happened.

?It?s frustrating to know that we send our children to school, to a safe place and we don’t know that it’s really safe. It’s a tough thing. It?s a tough pill to swallow,? said John.

He has decided to take his daughter out of the school.
