Tips to conserve energy on hot days
These soaring temperatures don’t have to prompt a rising energy bill.
Remember to keep your air-conditioning unit’s thermostat to 78 degrees when at home. If you leave your home for four hours or more, set it to 85 or higher.
Shut blinds and curtains on sunny sides of your house. Also, avoid running the dishwasher, clothing washer and dryer. Instead, use those appliances at night.
Colorado Springs Utilities says it works strategically to conserve energy for customers’ needs.
CSU Spokesperson Amy Trinidad says, “We have traders and forecasters that look at the forecast to see how energy can best be supplied and they plan for those hot days.”
