Colorado Springs City Council to hear appeal on Sunset Amphitheater, vote on venue’s future

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Tuesday evening during a Colorado Springs City Council, officials will decide the fate of a proposed amphitheater for the north side of the city.

In November 2022, the Colorado Springs Planning Commission approved the Sunset Amphitheater in a 6-3 vote. However, a group of residents who would live near the completed project filed an appeal opposing the venue.

Now, the Colorado Springs City Council is set to hear the appeal from the neighborhood group. Following that, the city council will vote to either side with the appeal or against it, which will determine whether or not the project moves forward.

According to a city spokesperson, this is the last step in the process for the Sunset Amphitheater.

The city council is expected to begin hearing the appeal around 5 p.m. Watch the meeting below:
