Last-minute do’s and don’ts of mail-in voting for 2022 Colorado Midterm Elections
COLORADO (KRDO) -- With the 2022 Midterm Elections approaching, ballots have been mailed out to all registered voters in Colorado.
Ballots are due when the polls close by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Just a day before the election, the Colorado Secretary of State's Office is answering questions from voters, according to 9NEWS.
Is it too late to mail in a ballot?
- You're encouraged to hand in your ballot at one of the designated drop-off, drop-box locations, or mail it in before the polls close.
- A ballot must be in the country clerk's office to be counted in the election, doesn't matter the date and time of the postmark.
- Video surveillance is being monitored at 24/7 drop-box locations. Ballots from drop-off locations are retrieved daily by election judges. Then, ballots get sent to the main counting location to be processed.
- If you are concerned that your ballot won't get there in time to be counted, you may take it to a designated in-person drop-off site.
- Recently-registered voters may need to provide a copy of their ID.
What do I do if I didn't receive a ballot?
- Look up BallotTrax to check if your ballot was sent.
- Contact or email your county's elections office if your ballot was not sent, or if your ballot says it's sent but you haven't received it.
- If you have questions, find the local county clerk on the secretary of state's website for more information.
- You can request a new ballot if you make a mistake, damage your ballot, or lost it in the mail.
How many stamps do I need on my mail-in ballot?
- Two stamps are required if your ballot is returned in the mail. No stamps are required for ballots if placed in a drop box.
Do I need to submit my own mail-in ballot?
- As long as the voter's signature is on the ballot, a family member can drop it off. A family member can turn in up to 10 ballots.
Does the ballot have to be fully filled out in order for it to be counted?
- You don't have to answer all the questions on the ballot. You're free to leave any races or questions blank and it can be counted.
