Highway 115 reduced to 1 lane this weekend for paving operations
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Paving operations will reduce Colorado 115 to a single-lane this weekend.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Highway 115 will be reduced to a single-lane configuration with flaggers and a pilot vehicle alternating traffic continuously from 7 p.m. on Friday, March 31, to 6 a.m. on Monday, April 3, near Glenrock Drive (mile point 37 - mile point 38).
CDOT said the length of the single-lane operation will be less than a mile, but drivers should expect delays and be prepared to stop for flaggers.
Crews will be primarily working during daylight hours but will periodically work overnight.
CDOT said ten additional weekends may require a single-lane configuration on Highway 115 and drivers should expect temporary surfaces and frequent traffic pattern changes through the fall.
According to CDOT, this improvement project between Colorado Springs and Penrose will improve roadway and bridge safety on CO 115 from MP 27.7 to MP 39 by adding passing lanes, right turn lanes, reconstructing Rock Creek Bridge, and performing major rehabilitation or reconstruction of cracked and distressed pavement.
