2 women rescued from submerged car in Cherry Creek Reservoir
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two women were rescued from a submerged car after the driver drove it down the Cherry Creek Reservoir boat ramp by accident, landing the car in the water.
Saturday, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office received a call at around 11 p.m. from the women inside, as the car was sinking.
According to the sheriff's office's new release obtained by 9NEWS, the two women were on their way home from a wedding reception during a foggy night. Deputies were told by the driver that she didn't see the reservoir and drove into the water.
The women were carried to safety after deputies dove into the reservoir, according to 9NEWS. The women were located nearly 25 yards offshore.
The driver admitted to sheriff's deputies to drinking alcohol. She was issued a summons for DUI, the sheriff's office told 9NEWS.
Sunday, the car was pulled out of the lake by South Metro Fire Rescue Dive Team.
