CANON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Cañon City Area Fire Protection Team is investigating a fire that happened near North Street and Raynolds Avenue in the northside of Cañon City.

The fire happened just after 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

Someone called in to report the fire, saying that a home was on fire. Flames could be seen in the home and throughout the surrounding trees. When firefighting crews arrived, they found a mobile home on fire.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, and there are no reported injuries. Although, multiple dead house cats were found inside the home. Since the home was empty, nobody was displaced by the fire.

The Cañon City Area Fire Protection District is still investigating the cause of the fire. If you have any information, you're asked to reach out to the Fire Protection District, or the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
