Medical emergency results in inmate’s death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says there was a medical emergency in a male housing ward at the El Paso County Jail. It happened early Sunday morning on May 9th around 12:45am.

A male was found in his cell unresponsive and not breathing.  EPCSO says life saving measures were immediately started and continued until AMR and Fire personnel arrived and took over.

However, despite the life saving measures, the inmate passed way. At this point there is no indication the death is related to COVID-19.

The identity of the inmate and cause of death will be released upon the conclusion of the autopsy and the next of kin notification by the Coroner's Office. This is an active investigation.

  1. Imagine that maybe it’s bcuz they don’t care when someone tells them they need medical attention and they ignore them.

  2. “A male was found in his cell unresponsive and not breathing.” This statement is so vague and ambitious… and left without answering additional questions, like was he assaulted, what did the video surveillance show, did he have medical conditions that were left untreated by nursing staff, did he attempt to end his own life, a possible drug overdose within the jail, Etc. Law enforcement has perfected the art in telling you the truth without divulging the whole, or entire truth, and it is usually because they erred in doing their jobs of taking care of the people they have in custody.

    1. Gotta remember, Bill Elder is the Sheriff, and his rule is lie, deny, hide, and let it ride. Eventually, the story will fizzle out and then nobody will know how inept and corrupt he is.
