Snow in June? Teller County wakes up to a winter wonderland

WPSnowPic

Colorado never fails to amaze when it comes to dramatic weather changes, as evidenced by the snow in Teller County Tuesday morning -- in the second week of June.

Residents woke up to quite the surprise as 2-4 inches of snow blanketed most of the ground.

Mark Lambert, a Teller County resident, said, “Kind of blown away, you walk out your front door and there is snow on the ground waiting on you, there's deer tracks through it. It’s pretty cool here.”

It made for spectacular visuals -- flowers that had just bloomed and trees with newly sprouted leaves were all covered as the wet snow covered the City Above the Clouds.

Todd Davidson, who has lived here most of his life, said although rare, this is nothing new for him.

“It’s normal, I’ve been up here for 30 years and I’ve seen snow every month of the year.”

The snow fell for most of the morning before finally slowing around 9 a.m.
