Colorado leaders call for calm after violent protest
DENVER (AP) - Leaders in Colorado are calling for calm and unity after protesters swarmed Denver on Thursday in a demonstration over the killing a black man in police custody in Minneapolis.

They blocked traffic and smashed vehicles while running from gunfire and police tear gas.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock both denounced the killing of George Floyd but said people shouldn't resort to violence.
Hancock said the Denver police department isn't the enemy and appealed to people of all races to work together, especially in the midst of the pandemic.
Polis called it a “very sad night" for Colorado.
