Police identify teen shot and killed in east Colorado Springs

Teen shot in east Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Colorado Springs Police are still investigating a shooting of a teenager near N. Carefree Circle and N. Academy Blvd. on Sunday afternoon. 

On Tuesday, the El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 15-year-old Dakota Foraker.

Around 2:10 p.m., police and Colorado Springs Fire Department personnel found the teen in the parking lot of the Greentree Village Apartments suffering from gunshot wounds. Foraker was pronounced dead on scene, according to police.

Neighbors told KRDO they heard seven gunshots and a car speed off.

Detectives from CSPD’s Homicide/Assault Unit have taken over the investigation.
