Human remains found in Avondale field, Sheriff’s Office investigating

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is conducting an investigation regarding human remains that were found in a field in the Avondale area on Sunday.

The PCSO said deputies responded to the field in the 3500 block of 36th lane Sunday morning after the landowner reported finding what he believed were human bones. After it was determined the bones were human, detectives took over the investigation.

Detectives are working to determine the cause of death and how the individual ended up the in the field. Further identifying characteristics and cause of death will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office following an autopsy.

The PCSO said there is no indication that there is a threat to the public. Additional information will be released when it is available.
