Colorado Springs man accused of choking partner, threatening to kill her before police standoff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- In newly released arrest documents, a Colorado Springs man with multiple felony convictions is accused of beating his partner before refusing to surrender from his apartment on August 8.

47-year-old Jerry Hoshour has been charged with attempted murder, menacing, assault, and obstruction of a telephone. Hoshour is a multi-convicted felon with prior felony convictions for assault and distribution of a controlled substance.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says that the victim and Hoshour were "involved in an intimate relationship for two years" and that they shared a child.

According to court documents, the victim told police that she and Hoshour had been fighting since about 9 a.m. because "Hoshour believed she had a sexual relationship with another man." The victim stated that during the argument, Hoshour picked up a three-foot metal rod and "threatened to kill her and himself." The victim was also struck in the arm with a "heavy torch-style lighter."

Court documents say that after the victim told Hoshour she would call the police, Hoshour took her phone and "threw it around the apartment several times, damaging the phone." After this, Hoshour became physically violent. Court documents say that Hoshour strangled the victim and said "if she called police, he would shoot it out with police."

The victim was able to separate herself and yelled for people to call for help, according to court documents. Hoshour then said that "if you [the victim] call the cops and I go down for it, I'm going to make it worth it." After saying this, Hoshour began beating the victim again. At one point, Hoshour said "I'm going to kill you" while strangling the victim. Hoshour also threw the victim's cellphone off the apartment's balcony.

The victim advised police that Hoshour had a handgun in the apartment but she had seen it previously in Hoshour's pants pocket. After police responded and a brief standoff, Hoshour surrendered without incident.
