Neighboring police departments to cover El Paso County during Deputy Peery’s funeral

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- As preparations continue for Deputy Andrew Peery's funeral, neighboring police departments are lending a hand.

Monument, Manitou Springs, Fountain and Colorado Springs law enforcement officers are stepping up to cover areas typically in the El Paso County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction, so that the deputies who knew and served alongside Deputy Peery can attend his funeral service.

Fountain Police say they reached out to the El Paso County Sheriff's office saying they would be willing to help support the department in any way they could, knowing the "agency has a lot that they're working through."

Officers in the Fountain police department are covering the south end of Colorado Springs, so the officers can spend the day grieving the loss of their comrade in arms.

The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, and EMS, Fire, and Police vehicles planning to take part in the procession must arrive to the New Life Church parking lot between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Following the funeral, the official procession will travel from New Life Church--the funeral location--to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Those who cannot attend the funeral in person can watch a live stream of the service here.
