Man in hospital with life-threatening injury after shooting in east Colorado Springs early Saturday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was shot shortly after midnight Saturday in the east part of the city near Academy Boulevard, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

CSPD said at 12:02 a.m. they responded to the 3800 block of E. Pikes Peak Avenue for a shooting. When officers arrived they couldn't find a victim.

Shortly thereafter a man went to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound. CSPD detectives responded to the hospital and have assumed responsibility for the investigation.
