Artists invited to design official t-shirt for 28th Emma Crawford Coffin Races in Manitou Springs

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Thursday, the City of Manitou Springs announced submissions are open for the Emma Crawford Coffin Races commemorative T-shirts.

From now until September 9, 2022, artists can submit t-shirt designs for a chance to be the featured artist for the official 28th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race t-shirts.

All artwork will be voted on by the community and reviewed by the Chamber Board of Directors to ensure the artwork meets technical specifications. The winner will also receive $50 in Manitou Money to be spent at participating Manitou Springs businesses, a 2022 coffin race T-shirt with your design, and your name announced from the stage on race day.

T-shirt designs are required to include

  1. The words: “Manitou Springs”
  2. The words: “Emma Crawford Coffin Races”
  3. The words: “28th annual” or “28th anniversary”

It is also recommended designs include subject matter that is coffin-race related.

The city says to submit digital designs as a singular jpeg, png, or pdf file. They recommend designing your piece at a size 16” x 20” at 300 dpi. Keep in mind, that if you win, they will require high-resolution files to print your design.

There is no entry fee. Submit entries via email to coffinraces@manitouchamber.com or drop off original art at 354 Manitou Ave.

For people interested in racing a coffin, the deadline is Friday, October 21, 2022. The race is only accepting 70 teams.

The Emma Crawford Coffin Race is set to happen Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Manitou Springs.
