Colorado Springs hosts ‘Bike to Work’ day Wednesday, more than 900 participants

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs is a bike-friendly city, but on Wednesday, the city put together an event to encourage folks to ride their bikes to work and enjoy free breakfast on their morning commute.

'Bike to Work' day had 940 participants and 40 locations up and down the city serving breakfast Wednesday morning.

The City of Colorado Springs said the purpose of the day is to encourage personal and community health, different modes of transportation, and sustainability.

On the way home, bikers are encouraged to stop by a free concert, Music at the Indy, and a farmers market at 235 South Nevada Avenue.

The event goes from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday. It includes free beer and music, food trucks, and whiskey and wine tasting.
