Man arrested following brief morning standoff in Pueblo

Pueblo Police Department

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is in custody following a standoff with Pueblo Police officers Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the area of Vinewood Ave. and Bison Ave. around 7:38 a.m., following reports that a man was slumped over the steering wheel of a parked truck.

When officers arrived they found the unresponsive man and noticed a handgun in the passenger seat. Officers then blocked off several streets in the area.

Pueblo Police says officers made several attempts to contact the driver, but he did not respond to those attempts. That's when officers forced open the truck and took the man into custody.

Several unknown drugs and a small amount of methamphetamine were discovered in the truck. Police have referred drug possession charges to the District Attorney's office.
