Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office participates in ‘Drug Take Back Day’ Saturday

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office hosted a drug take back event where they collected unused or expired medications for safe disposal Saturday.

The event was from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and yielded at least four large bags of medications.

The sheriff's department collected all substances, no questions asked, except needles, anything with mercury, and illicit drugs.

The sheriff's office said this event is a great way to keep the community safe.

"It's important because we can dispose of them properly and then they don't get in the wrong hands of people who shouldn't have them," a Deputy with PCSO said.

In past years, the sheriff's office has been able to collect over 200 pounds of pills.
