Aurora man arrested for stealing a vehicle in Douglas County

DOUGLAS, COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An Aurora man is in custody Tuesday for allegedly stealing a vehicle last Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Ahmarion Shead, 19, allegedly contacted a man who was selling his vehicle on Facebook Marketplace, inquiring about purchasing his vehicle. The two men agreed on a time and place to meet up for Shead to test drive the vehicle.

Police say while Shead and the victim went for a test drive, Shead pulled out a gun and aimed it at the victim and the other passenger in the backseat. Then, Shead demanded the two victims to get out of the vehicle.

The two victims immediately got out of the vehicle and Shead drove away in the victim's vehicle.

According to Douglas County Sheriff's Office, detectives from the Pattern Crimes Unit, the Major Crimes Unit, IMPACT, and the Property Crimes Unit spent eight days working to identify the suspect.

Aurora PD SWAT located Shead in an Aurora house and took him into the Douglas County Detention Facility.

Shead is facing charges in the following:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • First degree aggravated motor vehicle theft
  • Two counts of menacing
  • Poss burglary tools
  • Poss of weapon by previous offender

Shead's bond is currently set to $50,000 along with many "no bond" out-of-county warrants.
