COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- After 20 months, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic is back, and their first show will be a performance of The Nutcracker with the Oklahoma City Ballet.

"Oh it's really an emotional time, but this is the Philharmonic come back. This is what we've been promising people for months and months and it's finally here. The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky's masterpiece, this timeless classic that really kicks off the holiday season," said Nathan Newbrough, the President of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.

This year's Nutcracker is called the Short and Sweet version and is a 60-minute show.

Newbrough says they are encouraging people that come to be vaccinated, wear a mask if not, or both to keep everyone in the audience safe.

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic announced their return back in October. The orchestra didn't perform for the majority of 2020 because of the pandemic and contract negotiations.

There will be seven shows starting on Friday, November 26. For ticket information, you can visit their website.
