Vaccinations at Chapel Hills Mall to drop from 1,000 per day to 250 per day starting Sunday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Starting this Sunday, the large vaccination site at the Chapel Hills Mall will offer fewer COVID-19 vaccine doses per day.

Currently, the clinic offers up to 1,000 doses per day, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Sunday onward, that will drop to a maximum of 250 doses per day. The clinic at the mall offers the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

CDPHE said both the Aurora Municipal Center and the Southwest Plaza in Littleton will be following the same schedule as Chapel Hills by dropping to 250 doses per day on Sunday.

Although the number of doses is shrinking after Sunday, state health officials said their vaccination efforts are actually expanding by having the mass vax sites operational longer than expected.

For example, the large community vaccination site at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City will continue giving out shots past the original closing date of Sept. 30 until October 5, CDPHE said. That site has the capacity to administer 1,000 doses each day.
