COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Members of the Rocky Mountain Vibes Minor League Baseball team and UCHealth volunteers team up to help families who are in need of food in the Southern Colorado community.

Volunteers from UCHealth and the Rocky Mountain Vibes sorted through donated foods at the Care and Share Food Bank.

"We're getting that food into the hands who need it the most," says Kyle Fritzke from Rocky Mountain Vibes Baseball.

The key goal for Rocky Mountain Vibes organization is to help those who support the team and to get involved as much as possible.

"The fact that we've been the longest standing sports franchise in Colorado Springs really means a lot to us... we're doing our due diligence to make sure that we're more than just an entertainment venue, we're a community outreach organization."

Even members from UCHealth took the time Tuesday morning to cheer the team on.

"It's fabulous because there's so many people out there who are hurting right now so the more that we can do to help those people even if it is with a little bit of food or something to nourish them it makes a huge difference," says UCHealth Special Events Coordinator, Amy Dempsey.

This program is just one of two outreach programs this week. On Sunday, the three organizations will hold a food drive at the Vibes game and a back to school backpack giveaway.
