COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has awarded KRDO NewsChannel 13 with three prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

KRDO was awarded for excellence in three categories, Breaking News Coverage, Investigative Reporting and Digital.

Our news and weather team was honored for our breaking news coverage of the August 2020 severe hail and flash-flooding storm.

13 Investigates received an award for our ongoing investigation into illicit massage businesses with ties to human trafficking. Our reporting has prompted Colorado Springs police to change the way they investigate the illegal businesses

KRDO also won recognition for our efforts on KRDO.com and social media, including our online voter’s guide, live stream of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and consistent reporting on COVID-19 updates in Colorado.

"It's great to see our ongoing efforts in investigative journalism, breaking
news and weather along with our ever-expanding digital offerings have been
recognized by our peers," KRDO General Manager Mark Pimentel said.

The regional award winners now go on to compete for the National Edward R. Murrow awards.
