Governor Jared Polis visits Colorado Springs vaccines clinics and businesses

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Governor Jared Polis is in Colorado Springs today visiting vaccination clinics and area businesses.

The Governor first stopped at the United States Post Office on East Fountain Avenue. Around 100 postal workers will be vaccinated at the vaccination site on property.

Post office workers have been eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine since Phase 1b in late December.

Whe discussing how Colorado would reach its vaccination goals, Governor Polis announced that 82-percent of Coloradans over 70 have been vaccinated. That’s a 12-percent increase since February.

Governor Polis says it’s important that vaccines aren’t a burden to obtain.

“I want to encourage everyone to get protected,” he says.

“This vaccine is amazing. When we see these charts of who’s been vaccinated and who hasn’t, the people that haven’t been vaccinated are still filling up the hospitals. And it’s like, zero, zero — one person some days — of people who have been vaccinated.”

Governor Polis also visited local businesses to check on how they’re managing during the pandemic. Mash Mechanix Brewery Co. opened in downtown Colorado Springs last month. The Governor toured the bar and emphasized the support Colorado has for local businesses.
