Monarch Mountain Opens With Extensive Covid 19 Precautions

SALIDA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monarch Mountain has officially opened for the season. With more than half of the mountains' 66 trails currently accessible, there's plenty of terrains to let loose. However, with COVID in mind, there are quite a few changes at the resort this year to keep everyone safe.

Marketing Director Dan Bender said this is something they've been working on since March, "We require masks in all base areas whether your outdoors, in the parking lot, or in lift lines."

The only time you can actually take your mask off is when you're riding down the mountain.

The resort has also extended their wifi to the parking lot, so anyone who needs to get some work done or just access the internet can do so from their car. That is meant to help to make the lodge less of a gathering spot throughout the day.

Bender also mentioned that Monarch Mountain is not requiring people to make a lift ticket reservation before coming to resort, but highly encourages it as they will have limited capacity on Saturdays and holidays. Go to their website for more details.
