Man critically injured after being hit by a train in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A man was found on the train tracks with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a train near Sinton Road, early Saturday morning.

Around 3:00 a.m. officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the area of Fillmore Street and Sinton Road for a train vs pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, officers found a man on the tracks who was struck by a passing train. The man, who police identified as Elijah Ferguson was transported to a local hospital where he is in serious condition. So far, no charges have been issued and no further information is available at this time.

  1. The whole stretch of train tracks from Woodmen Road south along Mark Dabling Blvd, Sinton Rd, and into downtown is wide open to the public. I’m surprised there aren’t more incidents involving pedestrians, whether intentional or accidental.

      You’re correct that we can’t stop every bad thing from happening. But I’ve seen many kids on those tracks playing “chicken” with the trains. That’s sufficient reason to consider some sort of fencing along the tracks like happens in most other civilized places.
