SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, (KRDO) -- A Colorado woman was hiking in Salt Lake City with her cat when she says two unleashed dogs ran at them and began attacking the cat.

Sandra Samman of Boulder says the attack happened October 28 near the Z-trail in Mount Olympus Park.

According to Samman, a woman approached with two dogs that charged at her cat, Denali. She tried to grab him and hold him up but the dogs began jumping on her, allowing Denali to slip out of his harness and run into the wild.

Samman says Denali is chipped, and she has set up trail cams to try to find him. Volunteers are helping in the search.

Samman says the owner of the dogs didn't provide contact information and left the scene.
