Colorado Springs continues to suffer bus driver shortage

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Mountain Metro Transit announced Friday fixed-route bus service reductions due to bus drivers shortage.

Beginning Saturday, weekend bus services on Routes 1, 3, 5, 7, 25, and 27 will go from a bus every 30 minutes to a bus once every hour.

Starting Friday, Route 15 is canceled until further notice. Route 5 from downtown to the Citadel Mall at 1 p.m., 3:15 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. is also discontinued. That same route from the mall to downtown is canceled at 12:37 p.m., 2:50 p.m., and 5:05 p.m.

Beginning Monday, Routes 12 and 35 are canceled.

According to Mountain Metro, a shortage of bus drivers has been happening since March.

Metro encourages riders to check their website for any updates.
