Pueblo woman charged with DUI for head-on collision in wrong lanes of I-25
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Police have named the woman responsible for driving in the wrong lanes and causing a wreck on Interstate 25 this weekend.
Carlotta Valverdez is accused of causing a head-on collision and severely injuring two people and herself in the process early Saturday morning.
“Valverdez was arrested for DUI," said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega with the Pueblo Police Department. "The investigation is not complete yet, so she is also facing additional charges. The possibility of those include vehicular assault.”
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Pueblo Police say Valverdez was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25 near Abriendo Avenue when her black Sedan hit a pickup truck.
A male and female in the pickup were transported to the hospital by AMR.
Valverdez had to be extricated from the car, and she was also taken to the hospital.
More than two days after the wreck all three remain hospitalized, their conditions are unclear at this time.
