Manitou Springs boutique donates to local charities, hires women going through hardships
MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Manitou Springs boutique owner is trying to help local charities and give women a second chance through her business.
Nicole O'Rorke, the owner of Barn and Swallow, says she's donating five percent of each purchase to local charities around town. Customers who buy items at the boutique also get to choose which charity they want to help out.
O'Rorke says helping fellow women has always been a hobby of hers as well, which is why she employs women going through hardships like addiction, sexual assault and homelessness.
"I just want people to know that a little bit goes a long way," she said. "Just because they make a bad choice or are down on their luck, it doesn't mean they can't turn things around."
Barn and Swallow also specialize in selling things made by women. Some of the products' retailers even donate a portion of the cost to a charity, helping double donations to charities.
