COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Last month, we asked you to help KRDO raise $150,000 for wreaths to honor veterans in the Pikes's Peak region during the holiday season.

The telethon was a rousing success. For National Wreaths Day on December 14, veterans, family and friends gathered at Pikes Peak National Cemetery to participate in the nationwide tradition of laying wreaths down on the headstones of veterans.

The wreaths purchased during the telethon on Nov. 8 graced headstones at the Air Force Academy, Evergreen, Fairview, Memorial Gardens and Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

The wreaths symbolized that the Colorado Springs community never leaves a man behind.
