GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A now-former Greensboro firefighter was arrested after he allegedly kept a collection of pornography on a computer at a fire station.

Months after launching the investigation in May, police arrested Joshua Hall, who was a Greensboro firefighter up until resigning earlier this month, on Wednesday, according to court documents.

Hall was charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

In early May, a cyber tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It linked Hall’s computer address to nearly a dozen images and videos of young girls performing sexual acts.

That tip was then to NCSBI and then Greensboro police.

Investigators believe he built and maintained a collection of child pornography, between June 2017 and November 2018.

They believe he reportedly kept with him, at his workplace, Station 41, in a computer and computer-related storage media. The computer and storage media were Hall’s personal devices and not city-owned.

Hall is also accused of accessing images through a 4shared file-sharing account through the City of Greensboro’s internet and at other locations. However, the city cannot say if he used city computers to do so.

On Oct. 10, just one day before Hall resigned, a search warrant was carried out at his home and Fire Station 41.

At the fire station, nothing was seized.

At his home, authorities recovered 18 items, including a smartwatch, three cellphones, three SD cards, three laptops, a computer tower, an electronic tablet, an electronic picture frame, a safe and a revolver.

Authorities have not revealed what these materials might have on them or if they were used to download the material.

FOX8 reached out to the city manager’s office. They said that they were notified by Greensboro authorities that a city employee had been linked to sensitive material, but could not specify when they were notified.

FOX8 stopped by Hall’s home, but he was not there for comment. Our teams also stopped by Station 41, but they were unavailable to comment.
