Crane collapse at Hard Rock Hotel construction kills 1, injures others
A crane collapse killed at least one person and injured several others at the under-construction Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans, reported ABC News.
According to New Orleans Fire Chief Timothy McConnell, 18 people were transported to local hospitals and three were still missing as of a press conference Saturday.
A video of the incident obtained ABC News shows the crane slicing through the building as people on the street below scramble to get out of the way.

McConnell urged the public to avoid the area given the unstable nature of the building. He says another collapse is “absolutely” possible and called the situation “very dangerous” because the crane remains unsupported.
Surrounding buildings, including condominiums, were in the process of evacuations and nearby streets were closed to vehicles
It is not yet clear what caused the collapse that damaged the sixth, seventh and eighth floors.
