Crews respond to wildfire off Highway 115

Update: The fire is under control.

Authorities say the fire started from a lightning strike that hit two trees.

Penrose Fire units are responding to reports of a wildfire off of Highway 115. The flames were spotted close to mile marker 23 on a ridge top on the west side of the road.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is also sending units to the scene. Please watch for emergency and fire vehicles if driving on or around the highway.
